ReLATE in Action at MacKillop Education
ReLATE: Reframing Learning and Teaching Environments, was developed in Australia by MacKillop Family Services, drawing on the practice model implemented in our schools (MacKillop Education).
MacKillop Education provides a safe and supportive school environment that caters for children and young people who are disengaged, or at risk of disengaging, from education.
MacKillop Education has three specialist school campuses: MacKillop Education Caulfield (Foundation - Year 12), MacKillop Education Geelong (Foundation - Year 12), and MacKillop Education Maidstone (Year 3 - Year 6). Our schools are suited to students whose learning and social/emotional needs cannot be adequately supported in a mainstream setting.
School can be a challenging environment for many children and young people, especially those who have experienced adversity and/or complex trauma. To cater for a student's learning and wellbeing needs, MacKillop Education provides an environment that empowers students to re-engage in education and supports them academically and socially so they can experience success in learning and either continue their education at MacKillop or return to their host school.
Our approach to education, across all campuses, is focused on the child's individual learning needs. We undertake a holistic approach in response to adversity, working with the child's guardians/carers to facilitate healing and learning. We believe in each child and young person's fundamental right to access a learning environment that caters for their needs and provides the necessary supports to ensure success in their learning journey.
MacKillop Education is always looking to hear from passionate and talented professionals who seek to work in a vibrant environment with purpose. Contact MacKillop Education if you are someone who wants to transform the lives of children and young people through education.
